A destination wedding in India does not have one reliable national price. The room block, number of nights, hosted meals, event spaces and production brief determine the total. Start with those quantities before comparing a palace wedding in Rajasthan with a resort celebration in Goa.

The five parts of a destination wedding budget
- Accommodation: rooms in each category × nights × quoted rate. Add early arrivals, late departures and any second guest hotel.
- Food and beverages: confirmed attendance at each hosted meal × menu price, with drinks and special arrangements specified.
- Function spaces: hire, minimum spend, setup access, exclusivity and the indoor alternative for each event.
- Production and services: decor, sound, lighting, photography, entertainment and any planning or coordination scope you commission.
- Guest travel and other charges: airport transfers, inter-hotel vehicles, taxes, agreed service charges and a contingency you choose.
A proposal that includes breakfast should not also count that breakfast in a separate meal package. Equally, a room-only tariff should not be treated as covering wedding catering. Ask for a clear inclusion list to avoid both mistakes.
A worked budget for 150 guests
Suppose 150 guests share 75 rooms for two nights. At an assumed ₹25,000 per room per night, accommodation is ₹37.5 lakh. Four hosted meals at an assumed ₹3,000 per guest add ₹18 lakh. That gives a ₹55.5 lakh accommodation-and-meals subtotal.
It is not a complete wedding package. Add the actual event-space proposal, decor and technical requirements, transfers, additional services and applicable taxes. Children, single occupancy, suites, staff rooms and uneven arrival dates can change the room calculation substantially.

This comparison changes only the illustrative room-rate assumption. It does not rank overall wedding value: a higher room proposal may include useful meals or spaces, while a lower one may leave them outside the package.
How guest count changes the plan
Prepare separate totals for resident guests, local attendees, children, vendors and staff. A dinner for 250 does not necessarily require 125 hotel rooms, and a hotel with 100 rooms does not automatically offer a suitable 200-person banquet layout. Ask for an event capacity chart with tables, stage, dance floor, service access and the weather alternative included.
For a larger celebration, compare one large resort with a main venue plus nearby guest accommodation. The second approach requires more vehicles, guest communication and movement time; those costs belong in the comparison.
Dates, nights and wedding functions
Request your preferred dates plus one or two alternatives. Savings are only established when the hotel quotes the same scope for each option. A shorter stay can reduce room nights, but a compressed schedule may create overlapping setup costs or inconvenient guest arrivals.
A welcome dinner, mehendi, sangeet and wedding reception need a room and space plan, not just four menu prices. Check turnaround time, power, vendor access and whether multiple functions share the same venue.
What to send for an accurate quotation
- Preferred dates and acceptable alternatives.
- Guest count, rooming estimate, children and accessibility needs.
- Arrival and departure nights, including family and staff rooms.
- Functions, estimated attendance and indoor/outdoor preferences.
- Meal preferences, beverages and dietary requirements.
- Total budget ceiling and which services it must cover.
Ask for the room-category breakdown, minimum commitments, payment schedule, cancellation terms, proposal validity and a line-by-line tax and inclusion summary. A planning illustration or enquiry acknowledgement does not reserve a room or date.
